A GHOSTLY production which recently celebrated its 5,000th performance is being staged at Malvern Theatres next week.

The Woman In Black, now in its 13th year in the West End, is one of the most successful plays ever staged, having been seen by more than 2.5 million people in the UK.

Stephen Mallatratt's adaptation of the Susan Hill novel tells the story of a lawyer who is obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a 'woman in black'.

He engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul.

It begins innocently enough but as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds and the borders between make-believe and reality begin to blur.

The Woman In Black runs at Festival Theatre from Monday, May 27, until Saturday, June 1, and stars Robert Demeger as Arthur Kipps and Timothy Watson as the young actor, both who have previously appeared in the West End production.

Performances are at 8pm with a Wednesday and Friday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £10-£18 from the box office on 01684 892277.
