JOHN Bickerton is lying five shots behind leader Alex Cejka after the first round of the Deutsche bank-SAP Open in Heidelburg yesterday.
The Droitwich Golf Club member played steady golf all day, marred only by a bogey five at the par four eighth. He had earlier made birdie at the fourth and wrapped up his two under par 70 with a brilliant eagle three at the par five 12th.
Cejka, without a win since the 1995 Volvo Masters, led by one from New Zealander Greg Turner, with Colin Montgomerie alone a stroke further back and Ian Woosnam in the group on four under.
Tiger Woods returned a 69, but that was little comfort for the leaders as last year he was 10 behind at halfway stage and won by four shots!
