EVESHAM Swimming club competed in the second round of the Nuneaton League on Saturday at Rugby.

The competition was fierce as usual but the team swam well and there were several personal best times.

The nine-year-old girls' freestyle team achieved second place thanks to the efforts of Stephanie Richardson, Joanna Train, Charlie Allen and Jessica Grove.

Gemma Bass joined Stephanie, Joanna and Jessica to achieve third place in the medley relay event.

In the ten-year age group Elizabeth Hinsley swam a personal best time in the individual freestyle event to touch third and she was joined by Cara McPherson, Louise Shoenrock and Jenny Bell to match this placing in the medley relay.

Clemence Rich and Sophie Dagnall touched second in their individual events the freestyle and backstroke respectively in the 11-year-old age group and Jessica Wheatley and Justine Bennet joined them for a third place in the freestyle relay.

The 12-year-old girls' team swam well with Holly Burton achieving top spot in the freestyle and second in the backstroke, a feat matched by Gemma Nichols in the breaststroke and butterfly individual events.

Holly and Gemma were joined by Christie Foxall and Natalie Stockdale for both the freestyle and medley relay events in which they achieved first and second place respectively.

Addie Hancock swam the backstroke individual event for the boys in the 12-year age group and achieved third place.

The exciting girls' 8 x 1 free-style relay event was fast and furious and Evesham touched third thanks to Jessica Grove, Stephanie Richardson, Elizabeth Hinsley, Colleen Penrose, Cle-mence Rich, Jessica Wheatley, Gemma Nichols and Holly Burton.
