EVESHAM'S Laura Day lived up to her reputation as one of the county's top female golfers when she was crowned Worcestershire champion.
The 22-year-old, who plays at The Vale Golf and Country Club, is a regular member of the county squad.
It was the first time she had come through the 36-hole strokeplay qualifying competition -rounds of 79 and 75 taking her into top place and securing the Under-25 trophy.
The four-handicapper progressed through to the matchplay quarter-finals where she overcame Sarah Nicklin.
The climax of the three days at The Worce-stershire saw Day defeat the 2001 champion, Karen Greenfield, at the first extra hole and then take the coveted title with a 4 and 3 victory over Sarah Cranton from Stourbridge.
The reigning ladies champion at Evesham, Day will be bidding to add The Vale title to her fabulous record next month.
