ON a pleasant April evening, members were given a warm welcome by chairwoman Jenny Johnson who opened the meeting with a reading of a beautiful poem in memory of the Queen Mother.
Speaker Marion Canning, a lady toastmaster - one of only 15 in the country - was immaculately dressed in her guardsman red and black toastmaster outfit.
Her duties include weddings, charity events and business launches and she gave a most interesting and hilarious talk on some of the events she has officiated at.
'A Moment in Time' was the title of speaker housewife and mother Sonja F Mills at the second meeting in April.
Sonja, a poet, shared a collection of her beautiful poems most of them based on daily happenings.
Members had enjoyed a theatre visit to see Sunset Boulevard and will be visiting Peck Wood which is open to the public while the bluebells are in bloom.
