HISTORY did not repeat itself when two former Worcester Royal Grammar School pupils travelled from around the world to re-enact a 100m dash.
Fasha Mahjoor challenged his old rival Dave Price to a 100m dash exactly 31 years to the day they first ran the race.
Mr Mahjoor lost the original race - and a £5 bet - but vowed to run the race again one day.
On Sunday, May 12, he fulfilled his dream by defeating Mr Price.
"After 30 years my nightmare is over," the 50-year-old said.
"Finally, I won the race, but most importantly, I finally got my £5 back."
Mr Mahjoor, now the managing director of a scientific research company in California met Mr Price, who travelled from Hong Kong, to re-enact the race on the school's Flagge Meadow.
"We did some comical stuff, including playing Chariots of Fire in the background," Mr Mahjoor said.
Some of the spectators of the first race made it to watch the rematch and a cricket match was played between ex-pupils from the 60s and 70s.
Mr Mahjoor said the day was an excellent reunion.
