ABOUT 200 past pupils from The Chase and Dyson Perrins high schools, who left in 1982, are to meet up for a 20-year reunion.

Former Chase pupil Reg Reynolds, landlord of the Cross Keys in North Malvern's Belmont Road, has spent the past 18 months organising the event.

By using the internet, Mr Reynolds, 35, contacted as many old school friends as he could, asking them to spread the word to the 550 others.

The reunion takes place on Friday, May 24, in the Cross Keys, with tunes from 1982 being supplied by the band The High Five and DJ Terminator 2.

The buffet is also designed to remind revellers of their school days, with purple tickets being issued for each diner. Raffle prizes include digital watches and Rubik's cubes.

Mr Reynolds said: "In 1982 we were quite unruly. Everybody was 16, it was the era of Maggie Thatcher, ska music, skinheads and the Falklands War. The world cup was held in Spain.

"It was also the biggest year group in both schools. There were well over 300 in my year. It was really undermanned and over-populated.

"I've had contacts with all sorts of people, from an RAF engineer in Hong Kong to a male nurse in Manchester.

"A lot of people still live locally but in 1982/83 the unemployment was enormous and about 90 per cent moved away."

Any 1982 leavers interested in going to the event, should contact Mr Reynolds on 01684 572945 or by email at crosskeys92@hotmail.com.
