TWO members of Evesham Wheelers took part in Sunday's first event of the Thet-ford national mountain bike series, which was held on a technical, dusty three-lap, seven-mile circuit.

Starting from the back of the 85-strong field, Steve McGrath finished 13th while Andy Dolp-hin finished 53rd.

Also on the mountain bike front, seven Wheelers joined 900 starters in the Hell of the North Cotswolds reliability trail.

This annual event, based in Winchcombe, follows bridleways on a 60-mile route with over 100 changes of direction.

Dry weather had turned all the mud to concrete making off road tracks fast but bumpy allowing the faster riders to finish in under four hours.

Sunday's club run saw Adrian Main lead ten riders to Malvern via Elmley Castle, Eckington, Defford, Upton-On- Severn, Welland and then a climb up British Camp to the coffee stop at The Kettle Sings.

The return to Evesham was through Welland, Longdon Heath, Queen Hill, Bushley, Tewkesbury, Bredon and Beckford for 60 miles.
