EVESHAM SC contested a friendly gala hosted by Stratford Sharks last weekend against tough opposition, the majority of whom were from the first division.
It proved to be good practice for the new Nuneaton League squad and there were a couple of second places for Holly Burton in the 12 and under backstroke and Gemma Nichols in the same age group's breaststroke.
There was also a runner-up spot for the boys nine and under medley relay team thanks to the efforts of Andrew Powell, Alex Wheat-ley, Robert Bennett and Iain Davidson.
Colleen Penrose swam the ten and under breaststroke to touch third and Justine Bennett and Jessica Wheatley also touched third in the 11 and under butterfly and freestyle events.
The 12 and under girls' freestyle relay team were also just pipped into third place with the help of Holly, Gemma, Nicole and Natasha Beauchamp.
Club members are relishing the opportunity of competing in the first round of the Nuneaton League in Division Two at Wolverhampton this weekend.
Results: Stratford Blue 195pts; Worcester 190; Solihull 183; Leamington 146; Evesham 102; Stratford Silver 73.
