EVESHAM'S Simon Andrews had another satisfactory, albeit tiring weekend, at Brands Hatch.

Andrews, riding both the Honda CBR600 and CBR900, had to race three times on the Sunday with two of the races in swift succession.

In the Supersport race, riding the 600, Andrews spent the first qualifying session setting the bike up ready for the afternoon session and ended up 17th.

Come the afternoon and the Wickhamford rider was flying and, within five laps he had moved into third place. Unfortunately, the bike then blew a clutch cover gasket and he was forced to sit out the rest of the session.

Amazingly, such was his time that he only slipped to seventh place and once again would start the race from the second row.

As the riders left the start at the beginning of the race Andrews got baulked in on the first corner and slipped down the field. He then forced his way through the field and finished in a very respectable eighth.

On the 900 for the Superstock race, things were not so straightforward.

After a traumatic qualifying where Andrews struggled to get the new fireblade set up, he was forced to race for his grid position in an 18-lap qualifying race on Sunday.

Starting the race from 12th, he flew through the field and finished the race in fourth place and so would start the race from 24th.

The race itself was straight after the 600 race. Andrews jumped straight off the 600 straight on to his 900. The race went well and Andrews, who by now had done over 100 laps, moved through the field in his usual manner and finished in a quite remarkable 13th place.

Team UCL Honda second rider Luke Quigley left the team before Brands Hatch.

The team is currently in talks with ex-Grand Prix rider Kevin Magee about bringing a young Australian over to finish the rest of the season with Team UCL Honda in Europe and the UK.

The Unilock Construction based team look forward to Donington Park on April.
