A NEW personal best lap time made it a profitable outing on the Mallory Park track for Evesham racer Pete Boyles.

On board his new Yamaha R1 1000c machine, Boyles was in action in the second round of the EMRA Drayton Croft Mallory Trophy on Sunday.

The first race saw him finish tenth in qualifying for day's main event in which he started 20th on the grid before fighting his way through the field in the ten-lap race to land 13th place at the finish.

The afternoon just got better for Boyles whose second outing saw him 29th on a full grid but again he worked his way through the field in the 1300cc Open race to claim 14th at the chequered flag after the race had been restarted.

The second race in the same category saw the Vale rider 18th on the grid and he had moved up to fifth when again the race was stopped.

Boyles made a flying start second time around and exited the first corner in third. He was up to second at the end of the second lap a position he secured a the finish to earn valuable championship points and his new fastest lap time.

Boyles, who is sponsored by Chapman Tyrrell Racing, Linden Leisure, Paxford Garage and Motrax, is next in action at Mallory in the third round on May 12.
