John Heidt, a founder member and chief observer of the Worcestershire group of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, was presented with a zimmer frame when he reached his 65th birthday.
He took the frame for brief "test drive" around the car park before the start of the Sunday morning run and said he is not yet ready for retirement and will be using his BMW K1 SE as usual.
The group has been in existence for 16 years and, under John's guidance, has achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for its associates for many of those years.
Anyone interested in joining the group for a Sunday morning training run is invited to contact John on 01562 850752.
