Pershore 17pts, Bedworth 6
PERSHORE finished their league campaign in style, finishing fourth in their first year at this level and, to be frank, under-achieving.
Pershore lost five league games this season by fewer than four points and they were games that they should have won.
The Piddle Park side's forwards were excellent on Sat-urday. Scrums and line-outs were good but their foraging around the park, keeping the ball, and forcing Bedworth on to the back foot was even better.
The first try came from county centre Ben Pullin who hit the ball at pace off a switch pass from Robin Haines. He drove over his centre and outsprinted the cover defence to touch down. Phil Green failed with the conversion.
A couple of silly penalties, however, kicked by Bedworth saw them take a half-time lead.
Pershore upped the tempo after the break when Bedworth rarely entered the home half after the interval.
Good inter-passing between both forwards and backs created space on the blind side which Steve Holmes exploited to score a well-taken try. Green again missed the kick.
Further dominance up front saw Bedworth concede a five- metre scrum and, with the Pershore eight advancing, Martin Hope picked up and drove over to touch down.
Green, at last, added the extra points as the winners leap-frogged Keresley into fourth place to cap a successful season.
