TWO 12-week-old puppies which were found abandoned in a field in Ilverley are recovering after receiving medical treatment.

The tiny pair were very thin and weak when they were discovered by a couple walking their dog in fields at Axborough Lane last Wednesday.

The couple took the dogs to their home in Kidderminster, gave them food and contacted the RSPCA.

RSPCA animal collection officer Coral Wilkinson collected the pups, a black female cross-breed and a black and white male short-haired cross-breed and took them to a Kidderminster veterinary surgery.

Both animals were treated for skin conditions and the female puppy is receiving treatment to an eye.

RSPCA inspector Neil Tysall said if the animals had not been found they would have died and appealed for information.

He warned it was an offence to abandon an animal in a situation likely to cause it unnecessary suffering.
