A WOMAN with a taste for adventure is raising money to travel to the Far East to teach children and "spend time" with orphans.

Kelly Cox, 20, of Kittiwake Drive, Kidderminster, is spending almost four months in Thailand from July teaching English, geography, computing and dance to children - as well as working part-time in an orphanage. intrepid traveller Kelly Cox.

"I just want to achieve as much as possible," she said. "We only work for three hours-a-day teaching so I've decided to work in an orphanage."

Kelly, who spent three years living with her parents in Dubai before returning to boarding school in Bromsgrove, is taking time to decide what to do after last summer's A-level results were "not as good" as she expected.

"I've been teaching privately and I decided I wanted to teach abroad, and do some social work. I got in touch with a company that gives you a placement.

"I can't wait. I'm hoping it will open some doors," added Kelly, who hopes to take a degree in social work.

She is already almost half way to raising the £2,300 cost of the expedition and plans to raise the rest through a mixture of "hard work" and fund-raising.
