Shepshed Dynamo 1, Evesham Utd 1

JAMES Brown's goal two minutes from time earned United a 1-1 draw at Shepshed.

It was no more than United deserved as they hit the woodwork twice and had an effort cleared off the line.

The introduction of Brown and Alfie Carter on 70 minutes for the ineffective Lee Ross and Shaun Pratt lifted United's performance and from then on in they battered the home goal.

The sending-off of Mark Wolsey in the 80th minute didn't help matters, but United stuck to their task and were duly rewarded.

Shepshed took the lead in the 11th minute. Nobody picked up Emika Ejiqcor from Kirk Masters corner and he was left unmarked to powerfully head past Darren Steadman.

Brown headed Paul Webb's free kick against an upright with his first touch after replacing Ross and then Shepshed full back John Folwell cleared Carter's header off the line.

Wolsey was given his marching orders for ungentlemanly conduct before Carter rattled the crossbar with a header from Webb's corner.

Just when it looked as though it wasn't going to be United's day up popped Brown to grab a last gasp equaliser.

Shepshed keeper Damion Quailley made an excellent block from Steve Lutz following another Webb free-kick and Brown was on hand to ram in the rebound.

On Saturday United entertain Cirencester Town at Common Road in the Dr Martens League Western Division, kick-off 3pm.

Next Wednesday the first team travel to play Swindon Supermarine (7.30pm). The Wiltshire side are fighting a relegation struggle with Rocester and Racing Club Warwick and will provide another stern test for Phil Mullen's men.

Saturday's game is being sponsored by Clarke Roxburgh, High Street, Evesham and the match ball sponsor is John and Gladys Hawkins.
