WORCESTER Norton Hockey Club's women's section held their annual awards supper at Worcester Norton Sports Club where the guest of honour was England senior international Rachel Walker.

Head coach Tim Barlow outlined the club's performance over the season.

He said that in terms of the outstanding record of the last five years the results for the 2001-2 season might be viewed as disappointing in terms of league championships and trophies won.

The first team had finished runners-up by a narrow margin in their first season in the Midland Premier League and in their first entry into the English Hockey Association Tro-phy competition had reached the last eight.

The second team, although finishing high in Worcestershire Division One, had not managed to claim the title. The third team, in their first season in Worcestershire Division One, had managed to avoid relegation which in terms of their meteoric rise could be considered an excellent achievement.

The under 19 team had become Worcester-shire champions for the second successive season scoring 26 goals with one against but had lost to Leicester in the Midlands final.

The under 15 team were the hope for the season for a national title with their EHA Cup semi-final against Macclesfield due to be played on April 27.

Individual honours were led by Sarah Fellows and Kate Draper who had represented England at under 18 level with Jo Walker and Sadie Lapper playing for English Universities.

Draper and Fellows had won gold medals with the Midland's under 17 team at the National Championships and five players, Tina Evans, Sophie Wood, Charlene Mason, Fiona Nash and Charlotte Tysler received silver medals with the Midland's under 15s at the same tournament.

A total of 20 players had represented the county at under 17, under 15 and under 13 level.
