AN experimental Bewdley side lost 44-22 to a combined Clee Hill and Cleobury outfit in a friendly.

Both teams started well but Bewdley were pinned back for the first quarter of the game though the visitors could not find a way through.

They did eventually take the lead but the home side hit back with good running earning a penalty from which Darren Hughes went over for an unconverted try.

Bewdley showed they can play good rugby and were never out-classed but two more Clee Hill tries arrived in the first half.

They defended well at the start of the second period and then scrum-half Stuart Bell kicked a penalty.

Bewdley dominated the next 20 minutes and prop Alec Wright drove over from 10 metres after a penalty for a converted try.

They took the lead when a pick-up-and-go from Alan Banks at number 8 gave the Bewdley backs good ball and Clee were penalised for holding on.

Stuart Bell stepped up and took the try with the conversion also being kicked.

Bewdley were leading with 10 minutes to go but fitness told in the end and four tries with no reply from Clee meant victory to the visitors.
