SEWERAGE works are set to block traffic at The Leas in Throckmorton for up to seven weeks starting from next Monday.
The £600,000 investment by Severn Trent will link 20 houses to the mains and a further 14 homes already served by the mains will also have their systems redirected to a new treatment works.
Press officer for the water company Caroline Hosie said: "The work was urgently needed because of pollution discovered in some of the village ditches. We are very sorry for the inconvenience."
Nearby resident Nicolette Harrison said locals and visitors will suffer greatly from the long closure. She said: "Throckmorton villagers will have to travel a long way around to get to Bishampton and visa versa.
Throckmorton Church will also be accessible only on foot."
Ms Hosie said diversions would be in place.
