ONCE again Mercia Waste has attempted to brush aside its own shortcomings by calling the opposition negative and accusing them of failing to provide alternative strategies.(Shuttle/Times & News, April 4).

We are not surprised to once again hear this old chestnut.

Over the past four years this company has made no attempt at real liaison.

It has stonewalled any offers of alternative waste strategies, technologies or sites.

Groups and individuals have raised issues including Best Practicable Environmental Option (BPEO) and we have provided Mercia Waste with a detailed analysis of the proximity principal.

In short we have told it what to do with its proposal and where to put its incinerator.

The simple fact is that its fiddle only plays one tune. The parent company builds and runs incinerators - therefore it is not not open to alternatives.

We take no comfort from Mr Sherratt's remarks about there being nothing to worry about. Anyone who attended will be alarmed at how the inquiry has highlighted this company's shortcomings and failure to conduct its business in a professional and open manner.

So many questions remain unanswered that we cannot believe that this company will be allowed to build and run an incinerator.

Mr Sherratt's comments on the radio about how much this has cost his company only adds insult to injury. He is well aware the people of Worcestershire and in particular Wyre Forest are picking up the bill for all parties.

Once again thank you to all those who have supported us.
