Malvern Tn 2, Norton Rgrs U-14 6

A WIN at Perdiswell on Sunday will secure the Mercian Elgar League title for Rangers.

Last weekend's win followed a midweek triumph over Vale Youth but Norton still need a maximum haul to prevent Newtown taking the championship.

Norton started slowly and they fell behind after three minutes.

However, after weathering an early storm they grew in confidence but were denied an equaliser as good saves twice foiled the marauding Scott Williams.

Rangers, though, did finally find the net before the break as player of the match Williams scored twice.

The second half had barely got under way when Williams completed his hat-trick - reacting quickest after the ball had struck a post.

Malvern pressed occasionally and converted a penalty after goalkeeper Alex Gretton had pulled down a home player.

Williams then made it 5-1 before James Muddiman grabbed his side's sixth.

VICTORY left Broadway at the top of the section at the end of their first league campaign.

After a lacklustre opening ten minutes, Chris Andrews opened the scoring with a well-placed strike.

Top scorer Jason Willis scored Broadway's second goal as the leaders took a two-goal cushion into the break.

The second period produced a single goal courtesy of Josh Burford's right-footed effort.

Stratford Utd 1, Alcester Athletic 2

A GOAL in each half gave the visitors the points in a game which United had most of the play but could not create enough scoring chances.

Stratford's goal came midway through the second half, Toby Jones firing home his first ever goal for the club from the edge of the box after strong running from David Euinton on the left.

George Bird and skipper Nathaniel Burton turned in good performances for the home side and Stratford man of the match was keeper Paul Evans.

Badsey B 0

IT took a first half deflected shot from James Schembri to break the deadlock in this match.

Up until the break there was little between the two sides, although Mark Washington hit a post for Evesham and keeper Josh Downey had to tip over a Badsey strike.

As the match progressed, Evesham applied more pressure and James Coldrick fired home a second, shortly followed by an a deflected own goal, as Evesham put the pressure on.

A lively Tom Bennett showed how to finish, as he added two goals to make it 5-0, before Schembri took the chance to complete his brace shortly before the end.

Evesham Utd Robins U-8s 4, Badsey A 0

STRONG defence and good finishing, were the order of the day for Evesham.

They opened their account, when Andrew Powell hit a half-volley into the top corner, following some neat wing play from David Stringer and Henry Pearce-Woods

Evesham's failure to pass at times, limited their opportunities and gave the ball to a good Badsey team, who were happy to accept. It remained 1- 0 at half time, with both teams having missed opportunities to add to the score.

After the break, Owen Jones started a number of moves from the back and Elliot Grady was lively and effective in midfield, as Evesham took control.

Pearce-Woods scored the second, when he dribbled the ball through the defence, into the goal.

Daniel Francis found the target to make it three, but Badsey forced Evesham to defend in numbers with a succession of corners, and hit the bar in one of their many attacks. A Pearce-Woods strike ensured victory for the home side.

ASHLEY Wilkes sent Salford on a six-hit spree with a well-placed lob.

Ryan Ellis doubled the lead and, after Tristan Gretton's goalline clearance, Josh Cocker made it 3-0.

Wilkes lobbed in a fourth after the break and then completed his hat-trick with a solo strike. Cocker's good work then allowed Robert Preston to score the sixth.

The latter opened the scoring in a 4-0 win at Mickleton but Rovers were indebted to some fine stops by goalkeeper Richard Print.

A penalty gave Salford a break after the interval and Read's finish doubled the lead. The same player then made it 3-0 before Wilkes fired in a fourth.
