WHY is the district council continually described as "cash strapped" when it clearly has reserves of over £40 million in the bank.
The figures are shown in the authority's balance sheet.
It may well be that there is a legal requirement to hold on to this money, but if not, what is the council doing with our money?
In a recent handout, the council claims to have to balance the books using £1,392,490 from balances.
Yet it is reducing spending by £1 million this year, raising £155,000 from increased charges, and cutting admin costs by £316,000 this year.
My maths may be rusty, but I calculate that this actually means it will have an increased income of £78,510.
