Cheslyn Hay 0, Pershore Tn 1
A SINGLE goal from Lee Tustin five minutes from time lifted Pershore into sixth place in the Midland Combination Premier Division.
The striker pounced after Paul Concannon's ferocious shot had rebounded off the home goalkeeper but Town still needed a goalline clearance from Stuart Sollis to preserve their lead and secure a season's double.
Neither side has anything other than pride to play for and the game reflected this with a bone-hard surface making life difficult as both sides opted for the aerial route.
Neil Turner produced the first save of the game after nine minutes before Joe Maidment's shot almost caught out his opposite number.
Cheslyn enjoyed more possession in the first half but their stranglehold was broken with Paul Court and skipper Simon Brain finally getting to grips in midfield. The latter saw a deflected effort squirm to safety before Pershore took control after the restart when chances were scarce.
Young substitute Alex Cook wasted Town's best chance after 68 minutes and it was left to Tustin to show him the way to goal with the late clincher.
Town slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Coventry Marconi on Tuesday night.
They had goalkeeper Turner sent off after 43 minutes and lost out to a last-gasp winner.
