A REQUEST for a town council to consider taking over the running of a riverside play area has been withdrawn until after forthcoming district council elections May.

Wyre Forest District Council had asked its Stourport counterpart to think about taking on the maintenance of the facility, in light of its policy to "rationalise" its play areas to just four sites - two in Kidderminster and one each in Bewdley and Stourport.

But Stourport Mayor Mick Grinnall said he was "frustrated" by the original request and that the town's taxpayers "pay enough already".
