CYCLING: Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club's biggest talent James Shaw rode his first event of the season in the Team GB colours in the Cinturn Ciclista Internacional, a Mallorca international stage race.

The race over five days consisted of a time trial on stage one and then four tough 85-mile-plus road stages.

Shaw rode consistently to finish 62nd overall out of the 150-rider field and second in the King of the Mountains Classification.

Sunday saw two other Wyre Forest riders Paul Prince and Rob Holbeche take on the 100km Royal Sutton Road race in Staffordshire.

An early break of 19 riders split the race but the local duo were caught napping and missed it.

Prince made a big effort later on to bring back the lead group and almost succeeded but a lack of help from other riders put pay to any chance.

On the last lap, he made a last-gasp dash to escape the main pack but was reeled in with 2km to go.

Both Prince and Holbeche finished safely in the bunch.

Meanwhile, Wyre Forest cyclist Elliot Dinsdale left his bike behind to compete in his first London Marathon.

Running for Cancer Research, he finished in four hours 21 minutes and managed to raise hundreds of pounds in sponsorship.
