A CHURCH has dug deep to contribute to a poverty-stricken African hospital - as well as continuing to raise money to renovate its home.
Stourport Wesley Methodist Church has almost met its target of raising £500, part of £5,000 being raised by Methodist churches across the country for Kenya's Maua hospital.
And work will start this summer on a £350,000 project to renovate and remodel the 18th century building off Parkes Passage that houses the church, partly paid for by an ongoing four-year fund-raising effort.
"Each year there's a project going on because Methodism is world-wide," said the church's treasurer and property steward Peter Green.
"We've also given money to Kemp Hospice.
"Raising money and giving it away at the same time - that's what it's all about."
