CSRF: The usual monthly meeting was held on the morning of April 9 at Evesham Library. At 11.30am the chairman, Mrs Anne Innes, led members in observing two minutes silence as a mark of respect and remembrance of our Patron, The Queen Mother on this day, the day of her funeral.

Mr Tony Deakin, the speaker, gave an account of the history of Lea and Perrins sauce up to the present time. We were told of its local origins in the early 19th century, of the war-time take-over of the Worcester premises by the military and the firm's connection with Norton Barracks, of the disastrous fire in 1964 and of the reduction in the number of staff now needed to produce the millions of bottles of the famous sauce which are sold world wide - all due to automation. Iris Pinkstone (Beatrix Potter) will be the speaker at the meeting on May 14.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Next Monday The Vale of Evesham Camera Club will welcome Ivor Michell to give a photographic lecture entitled Special Effects, Creative Prints and Slides at The Friends Meeting House, Cowl Street, 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. New members welcome.
