MORE than 3,000 people across Worcester have made use of skips installed for residents to dump their bulky waste in.

Worcester City Council says people flocked to three sites across the city where skips were placed as a trial.

Up to 20 tons of rubbish were collected daily at each of the sites, in Shap Drive, Liverpool Road and Waverley Street.

Another skip is being placed in Dines Green, and a ''green'' skip for taking biodegradable waste may be provided at one of the sites.

The council's community services policy and review committee now has to decide whether to continue the trial throughout the summer to gauge its popularity and cost-effectiveness.
