THE second stage of the anxiously awaited Wyre Piddle and Upper Moor bypass is on schedule, according to the project's resident engineer.
John Baker said that, as far as he could see, the major road works starting at the Abbey View roundabout were on target to finish in November as planned.
"The main road, which is off the highway roundabout and goes through a greenfield site in the village, is more or less on schedule," he said.
The work was started in February following 30 years of tireless campaigning by villagers, who believed the existing road through the villages was a death trap.
The completed bypass will be connected to the new Squires Link and the Western Link.
The main roadworks follow a fencing and landscaping programme that was started late last year.
