A part-time reservist with the RAF has been called up for permanent service for six months.

But Paul Neary, from Studley, is determined his marriage to fiance Rachel Lloyd will still go ahead on June 1.

Mr Neary is a sales manager with stores giant Debenhams but is also a reservist with 4624 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force, based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

He has been called up to provide specialist aircraft handling for military planes being used to sustain the main body of UK forces forming part of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.

Mr Neary has been a member of the RAuxAF for four years and is looking forward to his period of full-time service.

Most personnel will be based at the main RAF Air Transport operating bases in the UK but some may be needed overseas as well.
