The bowls season started in earnest this week as White Hart BC romped through the first round of the Yardley Wood Cup winning by 39 shots against King George VI.
Winners: Ian Humphreys 21-4, Ray Barnett 21-7, Bob Weafer 21-8, Colin Hack 21-9 and Tony Sugden 21-15.
The Premier side began their Saturday campaign with a tricky fixture against The Baldwin, on a cold day and a dry hard green the Hart emerged victors by 59 shots which skipper Dave Kings described as their best start for many years.
Winners: Tony Wedgbury 21-10, Dave Edwards 21-17, Colin Hack 21-10, Stan Pritchard 21-15, Tony Sugden 21-5, Dave Kings 21-14, Rod Brammer 21-8 and Mick Wigginton 21-9.
The success continued on Sunday morning as the Northfield & District Seniors managed to win seven out of eight games giving them a 45 shot win over R.S.J.C.
Winners: Rod Brammer 21-12, Dave Edwards 21-20, Colin Hack 21-9, Ray Barnett 21-8, Stan Howard 21-16, Stan Pritchard 21-13 and Ian Humphreys 21-17.
