POLICE were called to a Bromsgrove housing estate last Wednesday following reports of a man who had access to fire arms and was threatening to harm himself.

Firearms officers, dog handlers and negotiators were scrambled to Loweshill to deal with the incident.

It took seven hours to talk the man out of his home.

He appeared at Droitwich Magistrate's Court last Friday and was released on bail.

The man, who has not been named, has been charged with four offences - assaulting a police officer, criminal damage with intent and two charges of intent to make threatening and menacing phone calls.
