POP idols of the future are being urged to take part in a ground-breaking music project in Rubery.
Talented young people are needed to support Worcestershire's Up4It youth music scheme following the appointment of two new musical directors.
Composition specialist Andy Williams and sound engineer Matt Devenish have been employed by the county council to provide expert advice and practical help to budding musicians who want to produce professional music.
The project, a joint venture between the county's arts and youth services, will bring a hi-tech recording studio and equipment to Rubery Youth Centre, in New Road, where around eight free sessions are planned.
The first meeting is today (Wednesday) and will run from 4.30 to 10pm.
Teenagers will get the chance to write, produce and record their own music onto CD and the project will build up to a live summer concert in Kidderminster -- with other county Up4It members. Council arts officer Steve Boffy said there is no opportunity quite like this in the area. For details call Bonnie Simpson on 07855 992554 or email bonniesimpson@btopenworld.com
