LODGE Park swimmer Katie Peachey had a disappointing outing at the British Championships in Manchester at the weekend.

The talented youngster was Redditch's only current representative at the Commonwealth Games qualifiers as well as one of only two swimmers competing for the Worcester club.

But Peachey was off the pace in her sole event, touching home 20th with a time of 1min 15.45sec in the womens 100m breaststroke to go out in the heats. Former Redditch stars James Salter and Adam Ruckwood booked their tickets to return to Manchester for the Games with a win apiece.

County Edinburgh swimmer Salter won the mens 200m freestyle with a 1.49.46 time.

And Ruckwood, who now swims for BHMM/PBEM, bagged gold in the mens 50m backstroke with a time of 26.38.

Salter also won silver in the mens 400m freestyle (3.51.71). Ruckwood took bronze in the mens 100m fresstyle (50.56) with Salter seventh.
