BROMSGROVE'S Euro MP John Corrie has been given a top honour for his work in developing countries. The Tory MEP for Herefordshire and Worcestershire has been made an Honorary Life President of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Assembly, which represents 77 developing countries.
At a meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, he was given the award for his efforts on issues including human rights, the AIDS problem and peace negotiations.
"I am deeply honoured the ACP Assembly should feel moved to reward me for my work," he said.
It is the first time in 27 years a sitting MEP has been given the honour.
