A FORMER Bromsgrove schoolgirl travelled from her home in Australia to take part in the Flora London Marathon.

Pathologist Dr Jane Thompson jetted into Britain from Perth to take part in the race for the third time.

The 47-year-old attended Bromsgrove High School for Girls but made a new life Down Under in 1988.

Her proud parents, Isabelle and Eric Thompson, of Rock Hill, say their daughter, who is married with two children, has always loved running and swimming.

Mrs Thompson told the Advertiser/Messenger: "Jane first ran the London Marathon when she was a medical student in the early 1980s and now takes part in marathons all over the world.

"She keeps in regular training and finished in under three hours and 30 minutes last year."

Dr Thompson was scheduled to speak about pathology at a talk in St Thomas' Hospital, in London, before returning home.
