JOYCE Brown, a founder member of Bromsgrove and District Twinning Association 23 years ago - who has done much to promote the link with Gronau - got a big surprise when she attended the association's annual meeting at the Council House on Friday.
She was unanimously voted president to succeed the late David Morgan from Barnt Green who died last year. Previously she, along with David, had been a vice-president.
Joyce, from Romsley, who before she retired ran her own hair salons in Bromsgrove and Rubery, said: "I am delighted. It is a great honour and came as a great surprise."
