THIS week's events start with the Starlets Veterans Tuesday contest which was held at Greenhill Fishery Hallow, near Worcester.

Dave Bennett (Stourbridge) pole fished corn at New pool peg three for a top weight of 49-7-0 while Derek Buckle (Bewdley) took second place with 46-13-0 and third, Stan James (Bewdley) with 41-6-0.

On Wednesday, the West Midlands Civil Service AC were at Wassell Grove's Match pool for the Barry Cooper Memorial Cup.

Dick Dark (Warwick) found the resident Tench in feeding mood at peg 32 and put 14-8-0 of them on the scales for victory.

Runner-up Steve Bampton (Chester) was close with 13-2-0 and third was Mike Askew's (Quinton) 8-4-0.

The Moorlands Farm Meadow pool Open was won by Alan Higgs (CSM) by pole fishing corn at peg 24 for 67-8-0; Mick Henshall (Fosters MG) was a close second with 64-8-0; third was David James (Lifestyle), taking 45-10-0.

Thursday's Moorlands Farm Special Costcutter open saw new Shakespeare signing Clive Munslow take 56-14-0 with pole corn and casters from Meadow peg 18.

Craig O'Brien (Fastfeeders) followed with 52-13-0 and third was Roger Finch's (Strettons) 46-2-0.

The Starlets Veterans were at Barbourne Pool, Cotheridge, for their latest encounter where lady angler Pat Kavanagh (Stourbridge) nearly doubled the weight of her nearest rival with a 21-14-0 catch of Carp and Skimmers taken with pole and red maggots from peg 23.

Brian Hill (Stourport) was second with 12-14-0 while Mick Scott (Bewdley) 12-0-0 was third.

On Friday the Moorlands Farm Cost cutter open was headed by Andy Newton (Lifestyle) with 93-13-0 of corn fed Carp, on the pole, from Bank pool peg seven.

Colin Pace (Bilston) was second with 48-0-0 and third was Neville Groves (Fosters M.G.) 35-8-0.

At Woodlands View, the afternoon Deans pool open was a close affair with Colin Wedgebrow (Slapheads) on bonus peg 56, where he took a winning 79-15-0 with pole fished worm and casters.

Team mate Mick Jones had to settle for second place with a 79-1-0 catch while Klaus Fix (Tek Neek Trabucco) was third with 55-4-0.

Saturday's Woodlands Views Arles and Deans pools open saw another close result with John Knight (Willow Creek) in top spot with 68-12-0 of mixed fish taken with pole corn and casters form Arles peg 23.

Trevor Chalk (Shimano Portway) followed with 61-0-0 and third was Andy Grealey's (Fishermans Friend) 60-12-0.

The Moorlands Farm day time open was held on the Bank, Meadow and Middle pools, and it was the Meadow pool that threw up the top catches headed by Neville Groves (Fosters MG) who fished corn and pellets at peg 14 for 80-5-0.

Mal Talbot (Kamasan) took second place with 76-1-0; third was Dean Cherrington (Sensas Midland Match), taking 75-8-0.

Cherrington made it a day to remember by topping the three-hour evening open from Meadow pool peg 11 with a ton up 102-1-0 catch taken with pole and corn.

Andy Newton (Lifestyle) was second with 90-14-0 and third, Mick Henshall (Fosters MG) with 59-0-0.

The first round of the Lower Broadheath Spring League with 16 teams of four saw Chris Wheelwright (Cobra) take the individual honours from Willow pool peg one with a pole corn and caster catch of 48-7-0.

Alan Walker (Matchbox Blue) was second with 33-15-0 and third was John Faizley (Odd Jobs), taking 33-0-0.

Matchbox Gold were the top points team with 18 and Matchbox Blue were joint second with Dudley Bait and Tackle on 19 points.

Sunday saw the fifth Preston Innovation UK Championship three-man team qualifier held at Woodlands View with Haines Angling making it through to Mallory Park with a nine-point tally.

Top individual was Les Thompson (PKS) with a ton up 109-13-0 Carp haul taken with pole chopped worm and casters from Arles pool peg 18.

Tim Guise, guesting for Slapheads, had 85-12-0 for second and third was Mick Jones' (Slapheads) 73-3-0.

The 100 AC were at Hanbury on the Birmingham Worcester Canal for their first Bye contest and Halesowen top rod Stuart Cutler showed the way by pole fishing various baits for a top catch 2-10-8 of mixed fish.

Steven Langton, aged 15, took the runners-up spot with a 1-7-8 catch and third was John Miller's 1-4-8.

Chris Hill (Fosters MG) topped the Moorlands Farm open by pole fishing corn down the margins of Meadow pool peg 14 for 63-15-0.

Second was Barry Picken's (Leehall) 52-2-0 and third, Mal Talbot (Kamasan) with 49-8-0.

The three-hour evening Meadow pool open saw Andy Newton (Lifestyle) pole fish the margins of peg 17 for a winning 49-12-0.

Team mate David James was a close second with 48-14-0 and Tom Beckett (Fosters MG) was third, taking 38-6-0.
