A LATE winner denied Malvern Town a point at Gornal Athletic last night but the 87th strike ensured the home side's West Midlands Premier Division survival.
Lee Hooper twice went close for Town as did Rick Halion with a header while keeper Dave Alden produced three excellent saves at the other end.
Malvern started the second half well but Dean Roberts was denied when he had broken clear.
With their Premier Division place in danger, Gornal threw players forward in the final quarter in search of a winner.
The breakthrough came after another Alden save that saw Town's defence slow to react enabling Gornal to grab the winner.
