A BROMSGROVE cyclist is hoping for a swift recovery after she suffered torn ligaments in her arm during her latest race.
Bromsgrove Olympique youth team rider Francine Billington, aged 17, was pat of a six-rider pile up during the junior circuit race at Victoria Park, Leamington, on Saturday.
Only 5km from the start, a rider pulled his foot off the pedal while travelling at 25mph, starting a chain reaction, which left six riders on the tarmac.
Two riders needed hospital treatment but an X-ray has shown no lasting damage for Francine.
Meanwhile, Genevieve and Alex Billington both stayed upright in their events, Genny taking second place in the U12 girls and Alex took fourth place and lap prize in the U16s.
Elsewhere, Ben and Joe Underhill both rode well in British Schools Cycling Association circuit racing at Wolverhampton and on Sunday Will Goulbourne and Matt Lee competed in the Midlands MTB series at Ludlow.
Sunday also saw the North Cotswolds attract over 900 riders for 91km of rocky bridle paths, open fields and tarmac.
Olympique riders included Mike Cooper, Steve Talbot, Alex and Ian Billington who all made it back to Winchcombe within the seven-hour time limit.
