During the torrential downpour of rain on Easter Monday, a storm water drain on the Abbeydale Estate burst and water flooded one of the bungalows to a depth of two feet.
The occupant, Mrs Simpson, who is a widow with three children, was seen by neighbours standing outside her house in the pouring rain and they went to her assistance.
Redditch Urban District Council workmen were summoned and eventually cleared the culvert and the water subsided.
A special load of coal was sent to Mrs Simpson and big fires helped to dry out the bungalow and its contents.
Mr Percy J Dyer, the recently elected county council member of the division, has been asked to lead a deputation of Abbeydale Estate tenants to meet Redditch Council with a view to preventing future flooding.
