DODDERHILL residents will be electing a new council representative next month following the death of their councillor.

Cllr Charlie Richardson (Con, Dodderhill) died on March 2 and a by-election will be held to elect a new councillor on Thursday, May 16.

The ward covers all areas of Wychbold, Stoke Works and Upton Warren.

Nomination papers for the post are available from Wychavon District Council's democratic services and must be returned to the department between today and noon on May 16.

Wychavon District Council's democratic services manager, Amanda de Warr said: "I urge all Dodderhill residents who are on the Register of Electors to have their say in this by-election.

"Any residents unsure if they are on the register can call the democratic services unit to find out.

"If they are not on the register, unfortunately they are too late to vote in this by-election but can be added to take part in future local and general elections."
