A jealous and possessive boyfriend, who assaulted his partner, has been given a community punishment order.

Richard Wylde, aged 30, was convicted last month of twice assaulting mother-of-two Christine Millington in her home.

Worcester Magistrates head how Wylde had flown into a rage and slapped, kicked and headbutted Miss Millington last November.

Wylde, of Wey Close, Droitwich, had moved in with her three months into their relationship.

But Owen Beale, prosecuting, said he became increasingly obsessive towards her and complained about the clothes she wore.

He said he attacked Miss Millington on the first occasion on Tuesday, November 27, after she hosted an Ann Summers party at her home in The Butts, Worcester.

Wylde came back to the house drunk after the party and told Miss Millington he did not like one of her tops because it was too revealing.

He then grabbed her by the throat and threw her toward the wall, said Mr Beale.

The couple settled their differences and had a meal together at Miss Millington's house two days later.

However, Wylde became drunk and started arguing with Miss Millington again, said Mr Beale.

"She became worried that there was going to be further violence. She tried to call her mother, but he took the phone off her.

"He kicked her on the leg and hit her twice on the right side of her head."

Wylde continued being abusive to her and told her he could dislocate her jaw with just one punch.

Wylde denied two counts of common assault.

Richard Wilkes, defending, said Wylde was of previous good character and pointed out that Miss Millington had not wanted the matter to go to court.

"It was purely a domestic matter - both events happened in the home they shared," he said.

"When relationships come to an end, they don't always end amicably."

Magistrates sentenced Wylde to community punishment orders of 80 hours for each attack, to run concurrently. They also ordered him to pay £50 for each assault and £263 costs.
