THE Spa council will say a sad goodbye to one of its key members at the end of August when the town clerk retires after more than 40 years serving local government.

Graham Pharo, the clerk of Droitwich Spa Town Council, will retire after holding his post in the town for 16 years.

Prior to becoming town clerk, Mr Pharo was an officer at Wychavon District Council for ten years and often dealt with matters concerning the Droitwich.

In total he has served local government for a massive 41 years.

Leader of the council, Cllr Pam Davey (Con, Droit.South) said: "During his years with Droitwich Spa Town Council, Mr Pharo has earned the respect and gratitude of the people of the town.

"We now have a demanding task of finding a replacement who will serve the town to the same high standard."
