AN increase on fuel would have very little impact as my mileage is so low - if I'm on business I usually take the train.
I don't think extra tax for the NHS will improve the service - I don't have confidence that the government can run anything efficiently, let alone the NHS.
I have every sympathy for our health service employees but if I needed treatment I'd go to France or Australia.
Duty increases on tobacco and alcohol would have no impact on me personally but I do think it's unsustainable - if the government continues to keep putting them up people will simply go to France to buy their alcohol.
Tax relief for children at university would be very welcome. I have two there already and one about to go - we could do with more help. I have friends in Scotland and they are paying significantly less to support their children at university. The cost is putting people off going.
Generally, if taxes do go up it will slow the economy, as it will slow consumer spending.
