WORCESTER'S Seoul Olympic bronze medallists Simon Archer and Jo Goode begin their European Championship campaign in Sweden tomorrow with a tough second round match against Chris Bruil and Lotte Johnasen.
The badminton ace, who was rested for England's team event final against Denmark, is also in the men's doubles with Graham Hurrell.
Archer is still in the process of returning to full fitness from a knee injury and was happy to stand down from yesterday's team final which England lost 3-2.
"I normally play five or six matches in the team event so it's been nice to have a bit of rest in preparation for the individual events," he said.
England had taken an early lead against Denmark when Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms won the mixed doubles match 3-1.
Denmark then took the next two singles matches and England's hope of a fightback looked hopeful after Jo Goode and Gail Emms fought back to take the women's doubles 7-4 7-2. But the Danish pair rallied to take the final set 7-1 and win the gold medal.
