THE dark cells below the city's Guildhall have been holding a new prisoner.
John Henderson, principal of Worcester College of Technology, was shut in the bowels of the building yesterday, but only for a moment as he was shown round by the Mayor of Worcester, Coun David Clark.
But he returned the favour when Coun Clark stopped by to view the cells at the old police station, yesterday afternoon.
"It goes back a long way because John Henderson came round to see the Guildhall some time ago and that was before the cells were open," said Coun Clark.
The two men pledged to meet up and have a tour of both the Guildhall cells and those at the former police station.
"He came over to the Guildhall yesterday and looked around and we discussed the history of the cells that we now open to the public.
"Then we went round to the cells underneath the old police station in Deansway.
"It's always interesting to see what's been going on and it's quite an education."
