RAIDERS scrambled through the roof of a Worcester post office, broke open a safe and fled with a substantial amount of money.

They struck at the post office in the One Stop store in Brickfields Road, which was still closed today.

A spokesman for the Post Office revealed that staff were still trying to determine exactly how much cash had been stolen.

"We're working closely with the police who are investigating the theft," said spokesman Don Veale.

"The post office is still closed while repairs are carried out to the roof and it's strengthened.

"We're looking to re-open the post office towards the end of the week and apologise to all our customers for any inconvenience."

The thieves broke in between 10pm on Saturday, April 13, and 6.30am the following morning.
