A MAN was recovering from stab wounds today after being injured in an alleged samurai sword attack on a Droitwich estate.

People living on the Westlands estate claim the attack could have been sparked by a neighbourhood row.

Police received a call from a house in Farriers Corner shortly after 11am yesterday from a man who said he had been stabbed.

One man, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, said he saw police arrive in riot gear and went over to see what was going on.

"Someone said a man had been stabbed in the back with a samurai sword," he said.

"Then I heard the 'Go, Go, Go' and the police broke into a house across the way."

The man said the suspected attacker had left the house 10 minutes before.

Another resident said the attack happened after days of fighting between two neighbours.

"They had been fighting for three or four days," said the woman, who also asked not to be named.

Neighbours say they saw a man run to the alleged victim's house and smash a window before entering.

"He went over there and smashed a window and stabbed him in the backside," said one woman. "Police cordoned off the whole street."

Another resident also believed the victim had been stabbed in the backside. "The police wouldn't let you leave your house," she added.

The wounded man was treated by paramedics at the scene and was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. Police do not believe his injuries are life-threatening.

A man was arrested in Harris Close, Droitwich, at around 1.30pm yesterday on suspicion of wounding and was taken to Worcester Police Station in Castle Street.

He was helping police with enquiries as the Evening News went to press today.
