WORCESTERSHIRE'S John Bickerton maintained his good form to stay in contention for the Madeira Open Golf Championship.
The Droitwich Golf Club member shot a sparkling four under par 68 yesterday which included a brilliant eagle three at the par five third.
Bickerton is five shots behind joint leaders Andrew Oldcorn of Scotland and Italy's Massimo Florioli, but could have been even closer if he had not finished disappointingly with two bogeys.
Evesham's Jeremy Robinson was tied with Bickerton on level par after the first round, but his fortunes took a tumble with a four over par 76 yesterday.
He still made the half-way cut, however, unlike Hereford's David Park who could only add a 74 to his first round 76 for six over par.
But Seve Ballesteros made his first half-way cut of the season at his third attempt, despite being unable to reproduce the consistency that saw him shoot an opening 70.
The 44-year-old five-time major winner could only manage a 76 to finish on two over.
